Oasis, a trusted name in addiction and eating disorder treatment across the globe, was taken over by Kathryn and Frank de Gouveia in 2017. The doors were closing, but after much consideration, owner Anstice Wright decided to pass the baton to the de Gouveias to continue the legacy that she had begun in 2005.
After years working as a psychotherapist at the Priory, Anstice opened Oasis to provide a sanctuary away from the busy-ness of London. A place where clients could come seeking recovery, connection and hope in the beautiful seaside town of Plettenberg Bay.
After working in leadership positions in the addiction field for over 15 years, Kathryn and Frank dreamed of owning their own rehabilitation centre. As a couple dedicated to helping and empowering people, they have taken over the reins at Oasis and ignited it with new passion and commitment, building on the great work that came before.
Kathryn’s years of studying and experience as a Clinical Director working with eating disorders provide her with the knowledge and the expertise to help clients understand their needs and find new and healthier ways of meeting them. Frank’s personal journey of recovery from addiction and his 20 years of sobriety, breathes life into his passion and commitment to carry the message of hope and freedom from this illness.
“I had to clear up my messy life. By letting go of the debris and filth, I have come to a deeper more soulful beauty and clarity like an oasis in the desert. From that place of clarity, a vision of what I could have, what I could do, who I could be has emerged if I allow my heart to become a place of compassion, acceptance and forgiveness.”

Nestled in the heart of the Garden Route, this boutique 14 bed treatment and rehabilitation centre boasts a secluded and tranquil setting; surrounded by picturesque mountains, forests and beaches.
With a hand selected team of leading professionals, Oasis provides an innovative and individualised treatment approach. Each client works closely with their skilled multidisciplinary team, including therapists, counsellors, psychologist, psychiatrist, doctors and a registered dietician. 24-hour nursing staff are always on hand to ensure clients are comfortable and feeling at home and safe through their life-changing time at Oasis.
There is often the perception that treatment for addictive disorders and various dual diagnoses has to be uncomfortable, punitive and unpleasant. The Oasis team believes that the process of admitting we have a problem that we cannot solve, and the process of healing, is difficult enough.
The Oasis way is to empower people in their journey of discovering who they are, without addiction, obsession and compulsion. Their mission is to rebuild lives through hope, compassion and a dedication to excellence. Through coaching, teaching and guidance, clients move towards living a life with meaning and purpose, with new ways of coping and communicating. It is more than getting sober in one of the most beautiful regions of South Africa, it is about achieving true recovery and learning how to live again.
